These collectible SPECIAL tobacco stick "walking sticks" are actually tobacco sticks which has been used for years on a tobacco farm in Kentucky. They have the same finish as the ?antique? sticks, although more so. These are really unique and SPECIAL. They are made from sawn trees selected for their availability and strength (the kind of wood is anyone's guess), and are approximately 1"x1 1/4 "x 51" to 54" Long.
They have been recrafted for collection by Hardscrabble Farms. These sticks have been sanded, shaped, and finished for both beauty and function. The original stick was found in an old tobacco barn in southern Kentucky.
They also include a leather wrist strap and a pointed bottom end where the spear was used to spear the tobacco through much like when in use on the farm. This provides authenticity and functionality for walking in the woods.
Tobacco was a staple crop in the southern Appalachian mountains for decades and therefore these sticks do represent an important piece of history.
Tobacco sticks served many purposes on the farm other than hanging tobacco because of their availability, shape, strength, and size. Most farmers used them as "walking sticks" whenever they went out.
That is why these have been preserved as "walking sticks". This is a great opportunity to purchase a piece of authentic Appalachian history - not just a mass-produced replica.
